New Everything!

New year, new everything!

How do you like the new look?  Thank you to Carla of Kiss the Moon Photography for the adorable images of my family in my new header slideshow, and Kathy of Nudge Media for the newly designed blog.

The New Year, as always, has made me especially reflective.  I'm really happy with my one-session-a-week workload with Lerin Photography, as it allows me to bring in some much-needed extra income but keeps my focus on my first love: my family & home.  By the way, that site has had a facelift and I would love to hear what you think!  The galleries are empty, but I love the new look.

As I reflect on the last year (several, actually) I do have some regret.  Sophie had a very detailed baby book and first year calendar daily entries.  Bella & Ben had their babyhoods recorded on my various blogs.  Lucy and Alice?  They had Facebook, mostly.  I doubt it will be much use to them as they grow up!  I really want to have, for all five of my children, tangible albums & memory books.

I have recently become aware of Project Life and it is now my lofty goal to cultivate a good life & record it.  ;)  One of my Christmas presents this year was a binder and the Baby Girl core kit, so I can fill it with photos and memories from Alice's first year.  Project Life makes it pretty easy, and I am hoping to make several albums this year as a catch-up.  (No, this is not a sponsored post... you know I don't do those!  I am just sharing something I think will work for my family!)

I have signed on for several fun projects this year to keep me growing in the area of photography AND excuses to bring out my camera daily.  I have a 365 group, a 52 group, a 26 group, a 10 on 10 group, Just Us x 12 group, and a daily lifestyle photography challenge group.  We'll just have to see what sticks.

GREAT NEWS:  My ultrasound showed that my thyroid is stable and I don't have to have surgery.  I need bi-annual checkups to make sure everything stays the same, but I am just so relieved.

I have a lot, a lot of things to do over the next several days.  We went to Salida CO and Santa Fe NM for a couple of weeks over the holidays, and now I have two weeks of laundry for seven people to wash & Christmas gifts for five children to put away.  I also have 1.5 photo galleries to finish from two very patient families pre-vacation.  I also need to hunt down my cellphone... as usual, it is lost but on silent. Hahaha!  It's going to be a busy weekend!

I adore the new look! I really do! I am glad to hear that your thyroid issues are stabilizing. I have them, too, in a big way. It's a pain in the booty. Anyways, love the new look! Love your family!

Lerin, I LOVE this!! Definitely waaaaay more you, and beautifully simple, than your last design. :) I hope you have time to do all those really cool projects you have set out for yourself to do, but if you don't, just remember to stop, take a breath, and write down what is MOST important to you, prioritize it, and go from there. :) About your kids' records...when I get overwhelmed with how "little" I've done, I just stop and remember what I remember from our own childhood. I have a baby book that is only partially filled out and has only three or four pictures, but I love that it is in mama's handwriting and it is just a little snippet of how important I was to her. I mostly have the memories of a happy childhood tucked away in my heart. :) BUT, I know your kids will appreciate whatever it is you are lead to do for them! :)
Whew! This is much longer than I intended, but I just wanted to encourage you that it's ok if you can't do it all. I sure can't but we still have a very happy life. :) I love you TONS!!!!

This is my 3rd year of doing Project Life - I LOVE IT. I have been scrapping since I was a teenager, but PL has made it so easy. Glad you discovered it and are getting a baby book done for Alice. I just bought the 2 baby kits so I could redo my kids' baby scrapbooks! :)
